The Blurb:
She is honey to his throat…but one sweet taste could part them forever…
Banished from home while her husband adjusts to life as an immortal, blood-drinking chronicler, Emily Black is homesick, heartsick and struggling under the constant sensory barrage of a city drenched in ancient magic. When an old friend asks for her aid in solving a string of murders, she welcomes the distraction, despite the danger.
Justine Dubois is grateful for a seer’s help, and more understanding than anyone of Emily’s plight. As a guardian, Justine commands respect; as a woman, her magic is considered inferior. Together, they are determined to prove their worth to London’s magicians, starting with solving these murders—with maybe a bit of matchmaking on the side.
Long before he met his soul mate, Michael Black made a commitment to join the Order of St. Jerome. He will live forever, forced to watch the woman he loves age and die. As Emily hunts the murderer, Michael struggles to protect her. But if he loses control of his hunger, the greatest threat to her safety could be Michael himself.
Warning: Contains tortured soul mates, scheming faeries, vampire debauchery, deadly parasols, illicit blood-drinker relations, and adorable plot moppets.

My Thoughts

Well, this was a great read, totally blow my mind. I love it so much!

Some may known I love strong characters, those whom can make their own world and rules and get victorious! But also those whom made the things right and care about others. Fortunately, Emily was all of that. She remind me very well why I love female characters from the hands of author such as Katie MacAlister; women full of determination to do the right thing but always with few twist that turn out to be fun and not always conventionals.

I also like Michael very much, how much he wanted her back and how he struggle with the change and all that. However, I was angry with him starting the book because (the fact that it's Emily POV which I was on her side) he abandoned his family to become an inmortal and I didn't like; but then we find out his reasons and everything became better.

The one I like to see more is Simon. He left me intriguing about him and everything he passed through...

The plot is very original. I like all the magic trics and the story lines. We have Emily life as a wive and mother but also, as a Seer and an investigator. So, there's so much to know and also some mistery. Few murders and criminals, and you get caught by them all.

Overall, this was a wonderfull read. I over enjoy it so much. There's a love that survive all not matter how hard it is, but also a woman who want to make sure she is recognise as a true magician and worth for the society of her age. Very funny, mistery (you know how I love it), and characters who going to absorve you from the start. It worth to give it a try!

I give it 5 hearts!
