Purchase: Amazon // B&N // Book Depository

Synopsis
Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same.

Everything Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill her.

Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with herself if she lies to him?

But as the Fae Prince begins to close in on Ivy, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld, Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but civilization itself.

My Thoughts

This review contains spoilers from the previous book of the series, Wicked; therefore you need to read it before continuo with this one. Beware youself.

When you want to read the perfect book, full of emotion and action, you just have to pick up a book by JLA. She’s a genius in developing characters and providing with the best scene of action and humor. Definitely, is one of my favorite authors, and this new installment of Ivy and Ren’s story world, Torn, wasn’t a disappointment.

“They love me. You see, brownies are, like, the shit in the Otherworld. So I am the supreme shit here.”

I frowned, wondering if he knew how that sounded.

Torn tells the story of how Ivy has to battle between the choices of prevent the invasion of the fairies while accomplish her duty and looking for the way to survives after discover she may be the key of the success of the fairies. But been chased by the Prince while he threats everyone she loves isn’t easy to stand, besides laying the love of her life. While her world starts to crumbling down she might need to look for help with those she expects the least.

After that long wait for this book, I finally can say that I REALLY like it so much; Again, I felt engage with the story and the lovely way JLA writes and present the characters. Definitely, what I like the most is how Ivy, Ren and (even more) Tink were portrayed and the humoristic, perfect lines they share through the whole book.

“Oh no, me wanting this is never going to happen. Like, the never-ever part is Taylor Swift level of never-ever.”

By other hand, I didn’t like something of the story line. I felt like it was to hold back, I did expect more of action since how the previous book ended, but I felt that it was more like a passing book that one that truly present something new (besides, the last bit of info with found out at the end of the book).

Overall, I really think it a really great book, full of emotions (because you’re going to cry a lot) and also very funny. But, for the contrary of the previous book, it needed a little bit more of action to really sustain more the story line ad make it memorable. However, I super recommend this series and any other book by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
